Amate Studios Jewelry Blanks was founded in 2006 by Armondo and Erika Barry. While writing a thesis about the economic impact of artisan cooperatives in Mexican communities, Armondo learned about the process of jewelry making and exportation. After completing his MBA in International Business, Armondo began working with a women's cooperative in Mexico to bring blank bezels and notions to the US craft market. After a couple of years, we opened our own shop hiring our own artisans and staff. This enabled us to make our own designs and have complete control over quality and production. We continue to work with some of our original artisans and have a full-time staff in Mexico and our administrative office in Arizona to handle all of our customer's needs.
